Foxonewa inquiry
(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. Flemington stewards have opened an inquiry into the running of the New Zealand steeplechaser Foxonewa in the Glamis Steeplechase on Saturday. Stewards opened the inquiry on Monday by questioning Foxonewa’s New Zealand jockey, R. Cairns. The official report said that the inquiry had been opened Into Cairns’s handling of Foxonewa in the middle stages of the Glamis Steeplechase (2im). The inquiry was adjourned until Friday. In his first start in a steeplechase, Foxonewa, trained by R. Heasley, was a fast-finishing third behind Valgo and Lord Montini.
