Burial costs increased
A sharp increase In the price of cemetery plots, bringing them more into line with the rates charged by other councils, was agreed to by the Lyttelton Borough Council on Monday evening. The price of an adult plot was increased from $7 to 320, and for a child’s plot from $3.50 to 67. The council also increased the basic grave-digging charge from $l3 to $l6 (or $2O at weekends and on holidays), and doubled the charge to $4 extra where less than six hours’ notice was given.
