British priest to marry

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 15. A British Roman Catholic priest, an outspoken critic of his Church's teaching on birth control, has announced his intention of resigning from the priesthood and marrying.

The Rev. Kenneth Allan, aged 52, the parish priest in the South London suburb of Coulsdon, was one of 55 people who signed a letter to “The Times” when the Pope’s encyclical on birth control was published in 1968.

Yesterday, he said that he intended to marry in a Roman Catholic church, and that he and his wife would thereafter receive Communion from sympathetic priests, disregarding any penalties the Church might impose.
