Thief wakes councillor
Cr R. H. Stillwell was wakened early yesterday morning when a thief attempted to break into a Commonwealth Games appeal collection box outside his window. The thief made off—but without anything to show for his efforts. The box is emptied every evening. However, the owner of four television sets, together worth $896, left in a van >arked in the driveway of a rouse in Waterloo Road, Hornby, on Wednesday was not so fortunate. A thief stole the sets some time between 12.30 a,m. and 10 a.m. On Tuesday night a $l2O- - was stolen from the Christchurch East School.
