Industrials are firm on Australian exchanges
Speculative miners were again weaker on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Established miners steadied somewhat in mixed trading. Industrials firmed marginally and oils recorded active, but mixed trading.
Peko Wallsend lost 20c to 1090 c, Western Mining dipped 2c to 428 c, M.I.M. lost 3c to 347 c after selling at 352 c.
Leading miners were mixed, but appeared to be steadying somewhat. Kathleen Investments and Queensland Mines were the exceptions. Kathleen dropped 100 c to 780 c, and Queensland Mines dropped 200 c to $22, and looked very weak at the close. Poseidon recovered 150 c to $33.50, and C.R.A. firmed 20c to 1080 c. Metals Explorations put on 4c to 524 c. Industrials were once again marginally up on the day in moderate volume. The large stores were strong again. Myer held firm at 285 c, and Woolworths was up 2c at 80c, Coles finned 4c to 90c. B.H.P. sold steadily higher during the day, closing 10c up at 1435 c. Other good gains Were shown by Humes, Rothmans, Tooheys. However. Bank N.S.W. was taken 12c lower to 610 c, and slight falls were shown by FaTrymead, Dunlop and H. C. Sleigh. SYDNEY Sales.—Amal.
