Drivers picket G.M. factory
(N Z. Preet Aaeoetatlon) WELLINGTON, May 10. Drivers employed at General Motors plants in Trantham and Upper Hutt stopped work today. They formed picket lines outside the plants and asked other drivers not to enter. It was the second in a series of "selective” stoppages decided on by the combined motor assembly unions after another breakdown in wage negotiations with their employers. On Friday, General Motors maintenance men stopped work, halting most production.
An overtime ban imposed more than five weeks ago by Genera! Motors workers is continuing. The Minister of Labour (Mr Marshall) will meet officials of the combined unions tomorrow to discuss the dispute. Last week he met representatives of the motor companies.
