ADDINGTON MARKET Prime lamb values rise; cattle also improve

Prime lamb values showed a marked recovery at the Addington market yesterday. In contrast with last week, there were regular sales at $7 to $7.50, and the best of the entry fetched more than $B.

Two-tooth -wethers and young ewes had a firm sale, even though their quality was very plain, and a small entry of older ewes showed a fractional improvement.

A yarding of fewer than 300 prime cattle had a good sale, values for steers and heifers showing a rise. Dairy cattle continued to sell well, but yesterday s sale did not reach the heights of last week. Prime lambs At IMO, compared with 3000 last week, the prime lamb yarding was much closer to trade requirements. When the market opened, the yarding was on the email side, and values opened on a strong note. During the main part of the sale, many lambs were 00c to 70c stronger on last week's rates. Two-tooth ewes accounted for a aizeable part of the yarding, but the entry of adult ewes was very small. Wethers had a firm sale, with an odd pen of good sheep fetching <8 or a little more. Valuea for a small entry of older wethers were also unchanged.

Vealers An entry of 90 vealers had a strong sale, with value* Improving 35 on last week’s rates. Buyers had a limited selection, particularly of larger vealers. The best of the larger vealers sold to 3110 with medium from *B4 to *O2, and light from *75 to *B2. Calves, just off cows, sold to *73, and the best of a small entry of bobbles reached 330.

Fat pigs A smaller yarding of fat pigs was offered this week, but quality was generally much better. Heavy porkers and light bacon-

ers again accounted for the bulk of the entry. Light porkers and baconers remained on a par with last week's rates, but heavy porkers showed a slight Improvement.
