Reassurance for pilots

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 23. The general manager of Air New Zealand (Mr C. J. Keppel) said today that he could foresee no redundancy in his company. He was commenting on announcements

by Qantas yesterday on aircrew dismissals.

His company would take steps to make whatever savings it could in the coming year, but he declined to specify what these would be. There would be a hold on staff numbers generally—not specifically in the air crew section.

All airlines were suffering from the same problems as Qantas, to a greater or lesser degree, and this financial year would probably be less profitable than recent years.
