Established miners make some good gains
Mining stocks were closely mixed in quiet trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday but selected established miners made notable gains. Industrials firmed a little and oils were steady in quiet trading. Kathleen Investment was strong with a rise of 50c to 970 c and Queensland Mines gained 250 c to 2650 c. Poseidon also rose 250 c to 4200 c. New B. H. firmed 10 cents to 1420 c, and Peko put on 10c to 1120 c. Utah firmed 5c to 425 c. Metramar, one of the few speculatives to gain significantly, rose 20c to 180 c. Allied Minerals firmed 5c to 85c, and A.C.M. put on 6c to 44c. Western Titanium dropped 10c to 550 c. Australian Developments, B.H. South,, Eastmet, Great
Boulder, Norseman, Southland, and Westmex also dropped back marginally. Metals Ex shed 20c to 600 c, and Western Mining was also marginally easier. Among the oils, Ampol recovered 5c to 120 c.
In the industrials, Cheney firmed 10c to 115 c, and Myer, Thiess, Woolworths, A.C.1., and C.U.B. were also firmer.
Lindeman dropped 5c to 395 c, D.L-.R.5., and Austin, and E.Z.I. were slightly easier.
