Carpet sales increase
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 23. The carpet division of UEB Industries, Ltd, is making a significant advance in its sales of high-quality tufted carpets in London, and expects sales there this financial year to be worth $500,000.
The general manager of the marketing for the division (Mr A. J. Murray), said that sales had also risen in other markets. In Canada and the United States, sales had doubled in the last six months. Sales to the company’s main export market, Australia, had risen 35 per cent in the last year. New markets where exports had been built up during the last 12 months were Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The Japanese market had been developed in the last six months.
Mr Murray said that U.E.B.s’ total export sales of carpets this year were expected to exceed s4m.
