FREEDOM
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, April 23.
Princess Alexandra last night received the Freedom of the City of Auckland from the Mayor of Auckland (Sir Dove-Myer Robinson). When the presentation of a scroll conferring the -Freedom was over, Princess Alexandra took the microphone and said: “What does this allow me to do?”
The Mayor answered. “This document allows Her Royal Highness to vote ... for the present Mayor. It also gives her the priviledge of paying rates and anything else that an unconvicted citizen of Auckland is entitled to.”
