Man’s gift of ambulance
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, April 23. A retired farmer has bought a new ambulance for the St John Ambulance Association at Hamilton. Mr H. R. Potter of Awatere Avenue, Hamilton, said his gift of $6OOO was to 'thank the staff of the Wai'kato Hospital. “I feel I have a duty to the doctors and nurses. I have received wonderful attention. In fact, they have been wonderful to me in every way," Mr Potter said. He had been to hospital several times, and felt he needed to repay the hospital and the St John Ambulance Association.
One stipulation of the gift is that the ambulance be smaller and more comfortable than those at present used.
The present truck-like ambulances were too rough and uncomfortable, Mr Potter said.
