Change of scene
Having sold its council chambers at Purau for conversion to a holiday home, the Mount Herbert County Council yesterday met in unaccustomed luxury in a lounge at Godley House, Diamond Harbour, the stately house built by Harvey Hawkins in 1880, and now owned by the Lyttelton Borough Council, which leases it for use as a boarding house and tea rooms.
