Licensing law
Sir, —Last Friday night my wife and I were refused admittance to the Gresham Tavern on the grounds that we had our eight-day-old daughter with us. Could you confirm how the law stands on this matter?—Yours, etc., A. J. G. WILSON. April 19, 1971. [Chief Superintendent G. Tait replies: “The licensee of the tavern was correct in refusing admittance to your correspondent He is required by section 259 of the Sale of Liquor Act, 1962, to refuse admittance to any person who would render him liable to prosecution.”]
