Girl Guide officials and guests attended a luncheon in Christchurch yesterday to farewell the visiting Commonwealth Guide Commissioner, Mrs Derek Par-ker-Bowles. Mrs Parker-Bowles had been in New Zealand on a two-week tour of guide groups throughout the country. She arrived in Christchurch on Wednesday from Invercargill and left yesterday afternoon for Sydney. While in Christchurch, she inspected the Canterbury Guide Association’s new buildings at the Cracroft House site, attended a function put on by guides, ranger guides and brownies at the Hilhnorten High School, and yesterday she inspected the national headquarters in Armagh Street, where the luncheon was held.
The picture shows Mrs Parker-Bowles (right) inspecting a picture at the national headquarters yesterday with the New Zealand Chief Commissioner, Mrs W. G. Turnbull (left), and Miss M. Hopkirk, the national secretary.
