League of Mothers
Eighty-eight members of the League of Mothers from many parts of New Zealand left Christchurch recently for a two-week holiday tour of south-east Australia.
Most of the party were elderly people, said the organiser of the tour and the pastpresident of the Canterbury League of Mothers (Mrs H. C. L. Pruden). “The oldest is 85 and we have several of 80,” she said. There were no last-minute cancellations, and there had been a waiting list of-half a dozen.
Last evening the party arrived in Melbourne where they will be spending three or four days before they leave on a three-day organised tour for Canberra where, they will spend a day. The group will then leave for Sydney where they will spend a week visiting scenic places, meeting other women’s organisations and senior citizens’ clubs. This was the first time a; tour of this nature had been, arranged, and if it were sue-1 cessful the league would or-i ganise a similar activity next! year, Mrs Pruden said.
