Stella Frost to leave
Stella Frost will leave Christchurch this morning for Auckland on the first stage of her trip to New York where in June she will contest an international pacing series at Yonkers Raceway. She will be accompanied by K. D. Townley and will leave Auckland on Monday. Stella Frost’s trainer-driver D. J. Townley, and his wife will leave on Sunday on their way to New York, where they will arrive a few hours before the aircraft carrying the horse. One of Stella Frost’s main rivals will be the Western Australian champion, Mount Eden, which yesterday was reported to have been bought by American interests. Manaroa is favourite (N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The New Zealand horse Manaroa is expected to be challenged for favouritism in tonight’s Pacers Invitation Challenge Stakes at Harold Park. Sydney’s big betting “Chicken King” brothers. B. and J. Ingram, own three of the nine starters—Born to Trot, Brushwood Guy and Royal Society. If they decide to support their horses heavily punters might get good value about Manaroa from bookmakers, but there is not much value in his pre-post price as he is quoted at 5/2 on favourite.
