Williams not interested
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. English Rugby league dubs are unlikely to get any joy, at least in the near future, out of the brilliant AU Black, B. G. Williams. Williams returned to Auckland from London yesterday and confirmed that league scouts had been “sniffing around” during his appearances for the Overseas XV in the English Rugby Union’s centennial matches.
“No-one approached me directly. But I was told they were hanging around.” After he scored three tries at Twickenham last Saturday, someone told him, “They’d be really after you.” “They could be,” said Williams. “But they would have to go hard to catch me. lam not interested.”
