BURNSIDE LAY-OUT
The plan (left) shows the new lay-out of sports grounds at Burnside Park this winter.
The eight Rugby grounds are now concentrated on the western side of the ground (nearest Roydvale Avenue), and the soccer grounds, which hrfve been increased from three ordinary pitches to four, plus two new junior fields, will occupy the eastern side. Previously, soccer was in the middle and Rugby on either side. Burnside Park is the scene of feverish activity on Saturday mornings.
The park is the headquarters for two of the South Island’s biggest sporting clubs —Burnside Rugby and Bumdale United soccer.
