Metals Ex. finds high grades
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, April 22.
Metals Exploration NL and its drilling partners have struck high-grade nickel sulphides at their Mt Keith prospect in Western Australia, Metals Exploration directors say in their March quarterly report. The report says that a hole drilled at the northern end and to the west of the disseminated zone hit 4 per cent nickel and 0.01 per cent copper over a core length of 15 feet. The strike was made about 300 feet below the surface.
A spokesman for Metals Exploration said that it was too early to estimate the true width of the intersection, but it was likely to be 10 or 12 feet.
The directors also say in their report that the partners are thinking of building their own nickel smelter, and have revised their estimate of reserves at Mount Keith upwards to 250 m tons averaging 0.6 per cent nickel. Metals Exploration’s partners in the prospect are Freeport Sulphur and A.C.M
