Dangerous cargo
Self-contained breathing apparatus units were worn as a precaution by Lyttelton watersiders when they discharged drums of Toluene Disocyanate from a forward hold in the Norwegian motor-vessel Gudver at Cashin Quay yesterday.
The cargo was loaded in North America.
This is the first thee that Lyttelton watersiders have used this particuhu- jtype of apparatus * tor di charging dangerous material, although conventional respirators are regularly used at the port for certain cargoes.
