The good three-year-old colt, Dare Devil, has gone out to spell He cast a plate a few days before the Great Northern Sl| Leger and missed some work so ; did not start. In a busy campaign since last spring when he wx>n the Hawke’s Bay Guineas, Dare Devil scored three wins, six seconds, a third and a fourth from 19 starts. Ho' earned $14,450 for his Cambridge owner-trainers, Mr and . Mrs 1! MoC. Alton. Some of Dare Devil’s best form was at Riccarton. On a spring trip to Christchurch he ran second in the New Zealand Cup and Derby Trial at Motukarara. Then, in three starts at Riccarton, he was fourth in the New Zealand Derby Stakes, first in the Canter bury Gold Cup, and second in the Churchill Stakes. After showing good form in three-year-old classics in the north during midsummer, he returned to Riccarton in February and ran second in the Benson and Hedges Inter-Island Handicap. If Dare Devil does well during his spell, he may be nomi-! nated for major Australian' spring races.
