Fire safety by-laws

WELLINGTON, April 21. Legislation will be introduced this year making it mandatory for every territorial local authority to have adequate fire safety by-laws, approved by the Minister of Internal Affairs, by March 31, 1973. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath), addressing the Municipal Association’s annual conference today, said the Government had rejected a recommendation from the Hunn Committee on Fire Safety that fire safety by-laws should be replaced by regulations.
produced engine which would raise the local content to about 90 per cent. According to the chairman of the new company, Mr R. J. Crowther, the car is expected to retail about $2500. The development phase of the company’s programme is expected to take 12 to 15 months, after which the company expects to produce 500 cars in the first year, rising to about 1000 units a year. The directors of the company are listed as Messrs Crowther, K. R. Mosheim (an industrial design consultant, of Auckland) and G. R. Turner (a civil engineering contractor, of Morrinsville). The shares will be payable to 25c on application, a final call being made no earlier than March 1, 1972. The company has an authorised capital of 4m ordinary shares of 50c each. Stock exchange listing is being sought for the shares.
