(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BRIDGETOWN. S. Gavaskar and C. Davis topped the batting averages for India and the West Indies in the cricket series just ended. Gavaskar averaged 154.80, with an aggregate of 774 runs, while Davis scored 531 for 132.75. Both batsmen missed the first test. G. S. Sobers, the West Indies captain, had the highest aggregate (594) for his team, but finished fourth in the standings with an average of 78.25. The Trinidad off-spinner, J. Noreiga, playing in his first test series at the age of 34, returned the best over-all bowling figures of 17 for 493 for the West Indies. India’s vice-captain and offspinner, S. Venkataraghavan, captured 22 test wickets and lead his team’s bowling with an average of 33.81,
