Results of 1970 wine competition

Each year a wine competition is conducted by the Department of Industries and Commerce on behalf of the Viticultural Advisory Committee. The prize list given here is the result of the 1970 competition and is taken from “New Zealand Wine 1970” published by the department It needs to be said that not all winegrowers in New Zealand enter the competition and that while the wines listed were considered of sufficient standard to merit the awards, a very great many wines not given awards, some of them not even submitted, do merit the dinner table or the wine and cheese party.
