Three grants amount-1 ing to $2OOO were made ' to Canterbury organisations yesterday by the < Canterbury Savings' Bank. The chairman' (Mr H. P. fund. Receiving the cheque, the principal (Mr C. V. Gallagher) said a library was vital to the institute if it was to take its part in the training of the people of Canterbury, and he hoped the library would become an outstanding one. Accepting a cheque for the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation, the president (Dr L/C. L. Averill) said it would be used to start a fund for research at the proposed medical centre to be
built at Christchurch Hospital. A cheque for $5OO was given to the Canterbury branch of the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s Society. The president (Mr M. A. Lefebvre) said there was a great deal of immediate work to be done, and he expressed appreciation for the gift. In the photograph, from left, are Mr Gallagher, Mr Smith, Dr Averill and Mr Lefebvre.
