Charge of murder
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, March 29. A charge of murder was laid against Wiremu Te One Matene, aged 21, a workshop assistant, when he appeared in the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court today. He was charged with the murder of his wife, Ray Ramari Hine Ki Hawaiki Matene at Whangara, on March 27. Matene, for whom Mr D R. Kohn appeared, was remanded by Mr E. S. Toogobd, J.P., to appear in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court on March 31. Senior Sergeant P. W. Bickley appeared for the police.
