New Zealanders in Pakistan
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 29. As far as is known, some 25 New Zealanders were in East Pakistan, most of them working as missionaries, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (Sir Keith Holyoake) said tonight. He said there were one or two families With young children and several single women.
He had asked the New Zealand High Commission in London to make further inquiries if possible through the British Deputy High Commissioner in Dacca about the welfare of the New Zealanders.
If any New Zealanders had relatives or friends in East Pakistan, apart from those working as missionaries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would welcome details about them.
