Delving into trash

A Washington columnist, • Jack Johnson, who alleges that he is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, decided to inquire into the personal life of the head of that organisation and found that Mr Edgar Hoover, who is 76, suffers from indigestion. He says that he found the evidence in Mr Hoover’s dustbin. “We have decided that the 76-year-old G-man should be subjected to some of the same investigative practices !he has been using on so ■many others,” he writes. ; “In F. 8.1. fashion, therejfore, we have been tailing I him, questioning his neigh- ' bours, and inspecting his trash. “A discarded handwritten menu found in the dustbin asked for a 6.15 p.m. dinner of crab bisque, spaghetti with meat balls, asparagus, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, lettuce, peppermintstick ice cream and strawberries. “To counteract the intestinal havoc caused by such combinations, our trash analysis revealed, Hoover takes antacid pills. He also soothes his throat with throat lozenges.”
