Drought move
The Mid-Canterbury Federated Farmers’ drought relief committee decided at its meeting yesterday to ask the Government for standard relief measures for the area bounded by the Rakaia and Ashburton rivers, the sea and the South Island main trunk railway line. This was announced by the chairman of the committee (Mr C. P. P. Whatman) after the committee had met for nearly two hours.
Mr Whatman said that the committee Would also ask the Government to reconsider in two weeks time the extending of relief measures to the other parts of the Ashburton County if necessary.
