Gaiety in fashion
Prue Acton, the 26-year-old Australian “golden girl” of fashion, recently made her distinctive mark at the Interstoff Fair, in Frankfurt.
Eighty garments were shown by Prue Acton at the fair.
They included shirtlike flowing dresses in gay patterns with matching swimming combinations, colourful mini shorts, extremely delicate summer dresses and day dresses with geometric decors, wide A-line skirts and ankle-length waist coats made from imitation Tibetan Jamb with matching combinations of pullover, belt, breeches and boots—an everchanging flow of gaiety. Way out? Certainly. But what is merely a trend today often becomes, with modifications, the fashion of tomorrow.
To Prue Acton, who caters for a young generation that works and plays equally hard, the importance of design lies in an ability to produce what every girl will like—and what will suit her personality. In doing so. she has revolutionised many bastions of fashion and beauty. In Australia, when a collection is bom. a complete range of beauty products appears, giving women the exact shades to complement the fashion garments, colours and designs.
The Prue Acton story has many pages. In New Zealand it is developing slowly but surely. A segment of her autumn-winter collection may be found at selected stores and boutiques. For spring and summer there will be a much more comprehensive range available.
The photograph shows an unusual variation of the dress and jacket in bold geometries by Prue Acton.
