Another award for Film Unit
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent)
WASHINGTON, Mar. 28. The New Zealand National Film Unit won an award at an international
stamp exhibition in New York last week-end for producing what judges considered to ba the best philatelic film last year.
The film was shown at the exhibition in conjunction with a display of New Zealand stamps assembled by the trade office of the New Zealand Consulate. Consulate officials said the 20-minute film traced New Zealand’s history through pictures of stamps
issued by the nation’s Post Office.
The privately sponsored exhibition was attended by about 35,000 people. Stamps were on sale at many of the 200 display booths, and New Zealand officials sold more than $l5OO worth. They reported that their best selling assortment of stamps contained 1970 commemorative issues.
The quality of their display booth won praise from the exhibition organisers who warded them a silver medal in recognition of its high standard.
