The Commonwealth Games swimming representative, Miss C. J. Whiting, broke her national short-course 110 yards butterfly record at the Freyberg Pool on Saturday night.
Her time, 67.1 sec, lowered the previous best by I.9sec.
Miss Whiting recently arrived in Wellington from Christchurch because of the superior winter training facilities in the capital.
