PIGEON RACE FOR CHARITY
The Combined Canterbury Pigeon Fanciers will hold their annual sponsored young bird charity race from Kaikoura next Saturday. In previous years, the event has raised several hundred dollars for both the Crippled Children Society and the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s Society- This year It has been decided to give all money raised to the Canterbuty Paraplegic Association.
The response of sponsors of individual birds had been encouraging, said the president of the project, Mr A. E. Alexander (St Albans). He hoped that others would assist towr -d the target of between *2OO and S4CO. The sponsor of the winning bird —from the expected 300-400 starters—will be awaided a trophy.
