N.Z. FRIESIANS SOLD IN AUST.
Eight Canterbury Friesian cattle sold for more than $lO,OOO at an auction sale in Australia earlier in the month. They were from Messrs R. G. and K. T. Mclntosh, of Prebbleton, and G. P. Mclntosh and Son, of Waikuku.
The New Zealand cattle made to $2250 for Riverbrae CX Connie from Messrs R. G. md K. T. Mclntosh, which was bought by Mr R. Clark, if Sydney, and to $2200 for liverbrae L.M. Imperial, an 18-months-old bull, also .'rom the same vendors. The Prebbleton breeders also had other females, which made from $650 to $B5O, and for their five head they grossed $6650.
&P. Mclntosh and Son Ashley S.M.L. Joyce at $lBOO and Ashley K.V. Beauty at $l2OO and they received $550 for a yearling bull to bring their proceeds for three sales to $3550. M. J. Parker, of Carterton, also had a sale at $BOO. The New Zealand heifers and bulls were sent to Australia on consignment and offered at Dunmore in New South Wales on the occasion of the first annual sale of Glengowrie Friesians from Messrs C. R. Ward and Sons, of Kiama. As federal president of the Friesian Cattle Club of Australia, Mr J. T. Ward came to
Canterbury last year to attend the sixtieth anniversary celebrations of the New Zealand Friesian Association. While he was here, C. R. Ward and Sons paid a New Zealand record price for a Friesian heifer or cow of $4lOO for an entry of Messrs R. G. and K. T. Mclntosh at the show and sale held in Christchurch in association with the anniversary. The cattle in the recent sale were shipped to Australia by Dalgety New Zealand, Ltd, and sold by the firm in conjunction with Messrs Hedley Johnson Pty., Ltd, of Kiama, New South Wales.
