TROTTING Radiant Globe stands out at Victoria Park
Radiant Globe will be a firm favourite for the Victoria Park Raceway Free-for-all to be run over 11 furlongs on the first night of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s autumn meeting on Monday.
Only bad luck stopped Radiant Globe qualifying to start in the InterDominion Championship Grand Final last month and the manner in which he won his Consolation Race suggested that he would have been a major threat in the $40,000 race. Bramble Hall and Royal Count are the only two horses in Monday’s race to have contested the Grand Final, Bramble Hall finishing seventh, three places in front of Royal Count. They should be among the main rivals of Radiant Globe, but both will be hard pressed to finish in front of him.
Radiant Globe, at present under offer to the United States, has won $18,540 this season, the result of six wins and eight placings. Altogether he has had 16 wins, 29 placings and $36,700 proving himself to be one of the three or four top pacers in
The free-for-all conditions are made to order for him and there will be general dismay if he fails to come out on top. Royal Count, a noted speedster, still appreciates the sprint journey. He went a pleasing race at the Ashburton trials, his first run since the championship series, where he recorded a win, a seventh, a third, and a tenth. He looks to have recovered fully from those exertions and it will be most surprising if he fails to put Radiant Globe to the test for a time in the run home.
Snowline’s latest form has been of a very high standard, with wins at Hutt Park and Alexandra Park, and two placings on the latter course in her last four starts. She will only have- to begin reasonably well to take a prominent part in the finish. Bramble Hall, one of the most consistent pacers in commission, Regal Hanover and Rauka Lad should be the
pick of the remainder, but it is difficult to imagine them beating Radiant Globe. Kaipuke Song and Joygiver, i graduates from maiden company at the Cheviot meeting a week ago, look to be two of the best prospects in the second leg, the Union Handicap, a race in which the three-year-old, Frenchelle, Hard Frost, Orient Hanover, Our Mandy, and Laura should be other sound prospects. The jackpot is certain to arouse interest as the pool will start at $11,150. It will be run on races one to three inclusive and races five and six.
