LSD taken to police
(N Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, March 26. A Hamilton man who was approached by an American asking him to peddle LSD was discharged when he appeared before Mr T. B. Mooney, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court today.
Michael Roy Higgins, aged 20, a paint shop labourer, pleaded guilty to possessing 36 LSD tablets.
Taking into account that Higgins did not supply the drug to anyone else and the fact that he voluntarily handed all tablets oyer to the police, the - Magistrate discharged him under Section 42 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Sergeant A. J. Carter said the first knowledge the police had that the defendant was in possession of LSD was when he handed the tablets in at the Hamilton police station. The American was arrested on March 15. The counsel for Higgins said he thought his client had had his fingers burnt and had learnt his lesson.
