UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY ASSOCIATE LIBRARIAN ADMINISTRATIVE AND TECHNICAL SERVICES APPLICANTS must be graduates of a recognised University and Associates of the Library Association of Australia (or hold equivalent qualifications). The appointee will be responsible to the librarian for the central administration of the library and the acquisition and processing of material secured by purchase, gift or exchange. The Technical Services Division includes the Acquisitions, Cataloguing and Serials Departments and the End Processing Section. The Library’s bound volume intake is of the order of 75,000 per year and there are 28,000 current serials. Automation of technical services has reached the point of on-line input of bibliographic data and the Associate Librarian will be directly responsible for further development in this area. Salary: $12,085 (Aust.) p.a. and subject to deductions under State Superannuation. He will be expected to take an active part in assisting and extending the research being carried on in the department, namely solid state studies, atmospheric physics, theoretical physics and astronomy.
