RADIO, TV LICENCES
Hint fees may rise (N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, March 26. Radio and television fees might rise, the chairman of the N.Z.B.C. (Major-general W. S. McKinnon) hinted in an interview in Hastings this morning.
He would not be drawn on the subject, but pointed out that the fee for radio licences had not increased for 46 years, and that there had been no change in television fees since the early 19605. He said costs were rising and the corporation would have to look at its organisation to see where maximum efficiency could be achieved. Major-General McKinnon said that the corporation, after making a sizeable profit last year, looked as if it would “only cut even” this year,
