Market steady in quiet trading
Investors were uncertain yesterday and the New Zealand market was steady after a day of quiet trading. AU sections were mixed with price changes generally small among the leaders but more pronounced among the infrequently traded stocks.
Rises outnumbered falls 28 to 21 but there was a lack of purpose about the market. A wide range of stocks changed hands with only a few significant prices changes and most of these were by stocks that are. not often traded so they would normally show relatively large movements. , C.P.D. at 120 c, D.I.C. at 1955, Marlborough Lucerne at 148 c and Neil Holdings at 93c
were 3c higher, while C.M.I. and Fashion Holdings gained 4c. Rheem jumped 9c to 143 c, ex dividend. Lanes put on 5c to 75c. British Office Supplies at 170 c, slumped 10c, and Robert Holt lost 6c to 70c after allowing for the dividend payment. T. J. Edmonds was 5c lower at 240 c, and Consolidated Brick notes lost the same amount to 200 c.
