(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 26. Values lor all weights of prime beef catUe were down $4, and In some cases slightly more, at the Bumside market this week. The yarding of 407 head Included two Frieslan-cross bullocks of exceptional size, which made $195 and $2OO. * There was a much bigger entry of runners and vealers than last week and quality was mainly good. Values remained at recent levels.
Apart from a few pens, the 86 store catUe yarded were of average quality and values remained steady at recent rates. There were 132 pigs, slightly more than last week, and values were back about $2 a head. In the lamb entry of 354 there was a line of heavy Hampshire Down-cross which sold up to $B. The sheep entry of 2300 head was mainly of average quality. Values for hoggets appreciated 40c and for ewes 20c.
Values were:— Prime beef catUe.—Top oxen, $l7O to $200: heavy, $155 to $165; medium. $143 to $150: light, $125 to $l3O. Top heifer, $143; medium, $125 to $134; light, $llB to $l2O. Top cow, $140; medium, $l2O to $129; light, $7B. to $lO5. Runners and vealers.—Runners, $ll4 to $ll9. Vealers, $92 to $109; medium, $7l to $9O; small, $62 to $7O. Store cattle.—Two-year-old steers, $lOB to $117; 18-month steers, $72 to $92. Pigs.—Top baconer, $3l; medium, $2B to $29; top porker, $29; medium, $24 to $27: small, $16.50 to $l9. Suckers, to $B. Lambs.—Top, $8; medium, $7.30 to $7.50; light, $5.40 to $5.70. Sheep.—Top hogget, $8.90; medium, $7.60 to $7.80; light, $6.80 to $7.20. Top ewe, $4.30; medium, $3.60 to $3.80; light, $3.20 to $3.40.
