Forged scrip named
The names of the Australian mining companies of which forged scrip had been discovered were revealed last night by the chairman of the Melbourne Stock Exchange (Sir Cecil Looker). They are: Western Mining, Peko-Wallsend, Consolidated Goldfields, and Gippsland. Sir Cecil Looker said forgeries were made to scrip issued by computers which showed the number of shares in figures only.
He said the numbers had been increased by clever forgeries which were almost impossible to detect
