I.R.A. men gaoled
(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 26. Three self - proclaimed members of the outlawed Irish Republican Army have been imprisoned for offences connected with explosives. Found in a London flat after a raid by Scotland Yard’s Special Branch detectives, the explosives were intended for an attack on a factory making CS gas, used by security fores in Northern Ireland to disperse rioters, the Court was. told. The accused, who refused to plead, said that the explosives were for training purposes only. James Monaghan, aged 25, nicknamed “The Bomb Man” and Patrick McGarrigle, aged 24, were found guilty of possessing explosives and of conspiring to cause an explosion. They were each sent to prison for three years. Brendan Magill, aged 37, was sent to prison for two years for possessing explosives.
