THE SHOW OF 1000 HORSES
Horses “by the thousand” will be at the Malvern Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show at Sheffield tomorrow. On its very pleasant domain, Sheffield has one of the largest one*day shows in Canterbury for horses.
All this is only 35 miles from Christchurch on the West Coast road. Motorists often take the alternative access road nearer the Waimakariri River, a route mainly sealed which passes through attractive country. Particular interest will centre on the St Andrew’s College Pipe Band at its show display this year. The staff flourishing of D. A. Solomon, the band's drum major, won him the title in this event at the New Zealand pipe band contest at Carisbrook last Sunday, and brought him a standing ovation from the crowd.
