Engineering scholarship
Grant Wilby, a 21-year-old Christchurch student, has been awarded the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Ltd, annual post-graduate scholarship in engineering. The award, which is worth $6OO, entitles the recipent to do post-graduate research at a university in New Zealand. Mr Wilby, who was educated at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, has spent the last three years at the University of Canterbury studying for a B.E. in civil engineering. He graduated at the end of last year with first-class honours and this year is studying for his master’s degree. He said on Thursday that ne intended to specialise in structural engineering with emphasis on earthquake effects.
