‘All Garnett’ criticised

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) ADELAIDE, March 25. An Adelaide television channel today apologised to its viewers for “an offensive performance” by the British actor, Warren Mitchell, last night. Mr Mitchell, still known to most Australians only as the Alf Garnett in the British Broadcasting Corporation’s “Till Death Us Do Part” series, met with an angry reaction to his 25-minute appearance.

His ad lib performance included an irreverent monologue on the Vatican and what was described as “a parade of four-letter words.”
