Conversion no worry

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Housewives should not be worried about the proposed conversion to metric measure because it involved only an adjustment in thinking and not a revolution in the kitchen, the chairman of the sector committee for food and consumer goods and services of the Metric Advisory Board, Professor Patricia Coleman said yesterday. She explained that the task of her committee was to represent the interests of the consumer and to consider the consumer’s viewpoint in all areas where they were affected by the change. “Two major groups of consumer goods which will be affected are food and household products, and clothing; and allied items. “In the first case commo-' dities will be purchased inj metric weights and measures, and in the second sizing will be related to a system of metric measures.” Professor Coleman said the committee hoped the change would be used whenever possible.
