Port officials to meet

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 25. Representatives of major overseas ports will arrive at Auckland during the next few days to attend the national harbours conference, which will begin on Wednesday. The conference will last three days, and representatives will present papers on many aspects of cargo handling and port operations. The conference will be the largest of its kind in New Zealand. Harbour board officials from most New Zealand ports are expected to send representatives.

Sir Clifford Dove, chairman of the British Transport Docks Board, will be a' special guest of the Auckland Harbour Board. He is to be the board’s guest speaker at its centennial dinner on March 31. Other overseas visitors will include Viscount Simon, chairman of the Port of London Authority. He will also represent the International Association of Ports and Harbours and the International Cargo handling Co-ordination ! Association. Mr A. L.
