Justice was prompt

(N Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, March 25. Justice was quick for Graham Edwin Dunford, aged 20, a welder, in the Invercargill Magistrate’s Court today. Within an hour of scratching a name on a door at the court, he was convicted and fined $5O for wilful damage by Mr B. O. Nicholson, S.M. Dunford pleaded guilty to the charge, which ressulted from his using a pin to scratch “Shorty” on a door while he was waiting to give evidence in a later case. Senior - Sergeant A. P. Barber said the offence was detected by a constable at 10.30 a.m. He mentioned that though it was not an uncommon offence, it was usually difficult to detect.
