Consecration of Bishop
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, March 25. The Rev. P. A. Reeves was consecrated the tenth Bishop of Waiapu at Napier today. More than 1000 people, including clergymen from throughout the country, crammed St John’s Cathedral to see the consecration of the youngest and first Maori Bishop of Waiapu. Bishop Reeves was formerly director of Christian education in the diocese of Auckland. His appointment as Bishop of Waiapu was made after the retirement on January 31 of the Most Rev. N. A. Lesser who had been Bishop for 24 years, the last 10 as Primate of New Zealand.
